Get Your Mind Right Monday~

How are you going to spend this one odd and precious life you have been issued? Whether you're going to spend it trying to look good and creating the illusion that you have power over people and circumstances, or whether you are going to taste it, enjoy it and find out the truth about who you are.--Anne Lamott

Get Your Mind Right Monday~

If you take things for granted here are some things to think about...

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness...you are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation ... you are ahead of 500 million people in the world.

If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death...you are more blessed than three billion people in the world.

If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep...you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace ... you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

If your parents are still alive and still married ... you are very rare, even in the United States and Canada.

If you can read this, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world that cannot read at all.

Take nothing for granted.

Friday

Let's give thanks...

So Thanksgiving has decided to show up a little sooner than anticipated...
the year is just flying by. I really don't think there should just be one day to give
thanks, it should be everyday but whatever. As far as the political aspect of the
holiday goes well we can go on forever with our opinions...so I am just going to leave it like this:

Be thankful for what you have and whom you have that is good in your life,
for in a spit second it/they can be gone.
Be thankful that you don't already have everything you want.
if you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don't know something,
it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the hard times,
during those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations,
because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge,
because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes,
they will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you're tired and want to give up
it is then you will reap the rewards.

It is so easy to be thankful for the good things,
but remember the beautiful life comes to those
who are also thankful for the setbacks.
Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles,
and they can become your blessings.

SOooo...

I know it's been a little while since I have blogged; however I do have a really great reason: WORK! Yes my job decided that it was time to gain some knowledge so they sent me to Boston (Cambridge) for some training. After my brief/long (paradoxically speaking) stint in Beantown (one of the most beautiful places EVER...we will talk later on that) off to New York we went, I honestly didn't have a great New York experience so I definitely will have to give it another shot later down the road.

Short story made long...I am back, and really excited to be writing again!  Some special person even made my blog the home page for my laptop, when I asked why he just replied so you can remember to write; made my heart smile. I know I am super cheesy but hey you don't have to read what I write, but you might just learn a thing or two if you do.

Since you weren't able to join in the festivities of the East Coast I thought I would share a couple of great video's that kind of depict a summarization of our experience. Enjoy...

First up is the ever so fresh band Vampire Weekend with "Ladies of Cambridge", which I believe was a pseudo version of poet E.E. Cummings sarcastive poem "The Cambridge ladies who live in furnished souls", making it that much better. If you get a chance go to Cambridge, you will not be disappointed.

Second up is the free spirited duo Matt & Kim with "Lessons Learned", I chose this one because New York was definitely a lesson to be learned. The video really shows how I felt...naked in the city, a little lost and frustrated. Still kept a smile on my face through it all.

Monday

Just a note...

In Boston right now...will be back to the regularly scheduled program in a couple weeks. Until then...enjoy this slick cover from one of my favorite bands.
