Freda Payne~ I Get High

Get your mind right Monday~ Memorial Day...We Remember

Unlearned Lesson

Memorial Day
Of every year
The little valiant
Flags appear
On every fallen
Soldier's grave--
Symbol of what
Each died to save.
And we who see
And still have breath--
Are we no wiser
For their death?

Rest in Peace, to all of the fallen soldiers who have courageously put their lifes on the line and who have died in battle. We remember you.

Postales by Federico Aubele

This song just makes me feel good, just a little love story.

(Espanol)
Cuando estas,
El tiempo queda.
Y las luces brillan mas allá.
El sabor de mil besos,
Que aun me hacen reír y hablar,
Nada mas nada queda,
Solamente tu risa en el Bar,
Postales, que se suceden sin cesar
Tu aroma, Dulce melodía,
Aun tiene un lugar,
Del recuerdo que es donde todo,
Sucede, otra vez,
Nada mas nada queda

(English)
When you’re here,
Time stops.
And the lights shine further out.
The taste of a thousand kisses,
That even now make me laugh and talk,
Nothing else, nothing remains,
Only your laugh in the Bar,
Post cards, that follow on without stopping
Your aroma, sweet melody,
Even still has a place,
In the memory which is where it all,
Happens, once again,
Nothing else, nothing remains.

Wordsmith Wednesday~

Artist: Pete Yorn
Song: Lose You
Album: Musicforthemorningafter (yes that is how it is spelled)

I’m taking a ride off to one side
It is a personal thing.
Where?
When I can’t stand
Up in this cage I’m not regretting.

I don’t need a better thing,
I’d settle for less,
It’s another thing for me,
I just have to wander through this world
Alone.

I’m gonna lose you,
Yeah I’m gonna lose you
If I’m gonna lose you
I’ll lose you now for good

Take a listen

Sole of Fire~

I know I posted Theophilus Londons new album last month, but I just can't get enough of this song! This is a song from the collective: Chauffeur - which consists of Sam Sparro, Mark Ronson, & Theophilus London.

Get your mind right Monday~

Lao-Tzu (600 B.C.)
Water is fluid, soft, and yielding. But water will wear away rock, which is rigid and cannot yield. As a rule, whatever is fluid, soft, and yielding will overcome whatever is rigid and hard. This is another paradox: what is soft is strong, become like fluid.

Ducobi Toys...not your average~

How beautiful and illustrious are these amazing toys?! For the low (tsssh) price of $750-800 you can own one. They are all hand crafted of "Mother of Pearl" and there is only 100 limited editions available in each design. My favorite Ducobi toy  is the Guardian of Organs which was designed for people who want  better health and well being.

Thursday

Thought Provoker Thursday~

Short, simple and to the point:

  • Some people get lost in thought because it’s unfamiliar territory

  • Children may close their ears to advice, but they keep their eyes open to example.

  • If you find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn’t lead anywhere.

  • People who wonder where the younger generation is headed for would do well to consider where it came from.

  • Warning: Dates in Calendar are closer than they appear.

Alicia hit the right key here~

This has got to be my favorite song "I'm Ready" from Alicia Keys (co-written by Drake). Her voice, the beat, the piano the whole enchilada is mad amazing. I was caught looping this song in the shower the other day and singing it so loud the neighbors probably know it now...yes it is that good! I just seen the video today (Alicia looks beautiful as always) and had to post, it is incredible. It basically shows interracial adversity scenes spanning from the 1950's until now, watch for the Nokia phone shot from the 90's, it looks so big now. Enjoy!

Wednesday

Wordsmith Wednesday~

Artist: India Arie
Album: Acoustic Soul 2001
Song: Strength, Courage & Wisdom

Behind my pride there lives a me, that knows humility
Inside my voice there is a soul, and in my soul there is a voice
But I've been, too afraid to make a choice
'Cause I'm scared of the things that I might be missing
Running too fast to stop and listen

It's time to step out on faith, I've gotta show my face
It's been elusive for so long but freedom is mine today
I've gotta step out on faith it's time to show my face
Procrastination had me down but look what I have found, I found
Strength, courage, and wisdom
And it's been inside of me all along,
Strength, courage, and wisdom
Inside of me

In Memory of the Angels gone too soon~

Before reading this, I must relay to you if you have a weak stomach or do not like gritty images please do not proceed. ~Respect

I can not imagine the pain of losing a child, but sometimes you have to put yourself in someones shoes to empathize the tragedy and depth of what they have experienced. Just recently a wonderful woman I know lost her baby girl at birth. My heart goes out to her and her family, I pray that they can find comfort and peace soon.

For this reason I must share my admiration of Frida Kahlo for being so expressive and sharing with the world her suffering and pain through her art. It brings to light that which I believe is a necessary component of daily strengthening, which is...healing. This does not mean covering up wounds and moving on, this means soul searching and looking deeply into ones self and finding solace through peace. This may take a lifetime I know, but so long as you continue to love and allow love into your own realm, you will have a blessed journey getting there. The love you give is the love you receive.

What the water gave me
The water opened
into the vortex of my daughters face
her skin was a rippled mirror
she was wearing the bath around her
like a dress of glistening scales
she was my fish-flower
I floated on her tongue
like the words 'Mama'
Pascale Petit in remembrance of Frida~

What the water gave me - Frida - 1938
This is a collaborative of many of her paintings~
The Flying Bed - Frida - 1932
This painting came after the realization that Frida was not able to carry a baby full term, due to her tragic accident.

Beautiful footage of the life of Frida~

Toni Tony Tone All I ask of You

Damn, Tony Toni Tone was one of the best groups out there in the 90's. I clearly remember falling in love with this song when I heard it on the movie "Higher Learning."

Tuesday

Soul Train Tuesday~ I know it's been a minute

Yes I know it has been a week or two since I last posted, but life threw some unexpected curve balls at me. Life is so precious sounds so evident but it is so true, I had to take some time to just breathe it all in. Well with out further due, here is "Soul Train Tuesday"! This may be one of the last "Soul Train Tuesday" being that I have almost exhausted all of the old school ST videos, but I most definitely will be replacing it with something real smooth like, hah. So enjoy one of my favorite classics "Distant Lover" by one of the greatest, Marvin Gaye.

Special shout out to everyone that kept my family in their prayers they worked, I am grateful forever!

Monday

Get your mind right Monday~

This weekend was very trying for me, just when you think every thing is smooth you run into ignorance. Although it was not everything I hoped for on one end, it was more than I hoped for on the other end. I did a lot of crying and laughing, mostly laughing. What I can take from it all is this:
  • Stop blaming others for your life and turn it into the life that you want! Happiness is within, do not seek it without.
  • Take care of your health, everything you take in has an underlying effect on your body and state of mind.
  • Understand that it is okay to agree to disagree, if every one had the same opinion this world would be so boring; however respect boundaries when doing so.
  • Be thankful for things can always be so much worse, and it all can be taken from you in a matter of seconds.
  • Communication is key.
  • Keep doing what you love and do it until you're satisfied...hence the video below by BT Express.

Keep doing it till you're satisfied~
