Good Deeds

"In the quiet hours when we are alone and there is nobody to tell us what good people we are, we come sometimes upon a moment in which we wonder, not how much money we are earning, nor how famous we have become, but what good we are doing." - A A Milne

Wordsmith Wednesday~

Did they get you to trade

Your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
And cold comfort for change?
Did you exchange
A walk on part in the war,
For a lead role in a cage?

Prensenting The Last Pharaoh of Egypt...Cleopatra VII~

Gritty Velvet will be releasing the late and great Cleopatra t-shirt this Saturday, April 17 at Guerrilla Garden warehouse for the highly anticipated Firelily bash Electric Punanny.  This is not just a shirt, its an art form that has many messages. It represents taking risks and standing on your own such as Cleopatra did. The ankh (Egyptian hieroglyph) in her hair symbolizes the union of man and woman, the key of life. It also represents regeneration of spirit; a fresh start, a new beginning. This is a shirt of evolution.

Here is the initial sketch of Cleopatra. I drew her eyes and eyebrows and we began from there; mi amorcito Filthe  helped me to perfect her beautiful face & together we created her. After listening to Erykah Badu's latest album New Amerykah pt. 2 Return of the Ankh just recently I felt it necessary to include the ankh into the drawing, it was as if the stars were aligned right at the correct moment.

Here is the finished product...Enjoy!

There is only one person who is capable to set limits to your growth: it is YOU

Your life does not change when your boss changes, when your friends change, when your parents change, when your partner changes, when your company changes.

Your life changes when YOU change, when you go beyond your limiting beliefs, when you realize that you are the only one responsible for your life.

The most important relationship you can have is the one you have with yourself' - Author unknown -

A miracle~

The child must know that he is a miracle, that since the beginning of the world, there hasn't been, and until the end of the world there will not be another child like him ~ Pablo Casals 1876-1973

Remix~

I heard this song a couple years ago and it rocked then; however just recently stumbled upon this remix by DJ Sam La More and found it to be equally amazing! I am usually not fond of electro-techno remixes but this one is pretty easy on the ears and tickling to the feet. Enjoy!
