"Do not confuse ego's happiness with soul's contentment. Two different things. Happiness is fleeting, contentment lasts far longer... in part because contentment does not try to hold on to happiness, just drifts down river, over and around rocks, nourishing, picking things up, dropping other things off, meeting the challenging rapids head on, resting in the eddying pools.


Pursuit of happiness can wear one out. Pursuit of contentment, that is, learning to ride the river, howling over the precipices and singing over still water, gliding silently on the straight-aways, is to learn an immaculate kind of strength."
