Oprah Presents ~

So Oprah Winfrey just debut her new television network OWN, Saturday, January 1st, 2011 on cable networks all over the US. One of the premiered shows was a documentary series titled Oprah Presents: Master Class; an original television series featuring life stories of elite names who’ve influenced the masses through music, film, politics, and entertainment. Of the many listed in the line-up rapper Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter was the first to air his episode, which touches on his struggle and success and how he keeps reinventing his life and career throughout his journey.  I must say watching this and seeing Oprah have a new found respect for Jay-Z is so awesome!

I did all of us a favor and took some of the best quotes from the documentary, and placed them here for your enjoyment.

“I believe in Karma, I just believe that you know what you put out in this world you get back, the energy you put in the world you get back, and how you treat people is how is how you will be treated at some point “ ~ Jay-Z

“Everybody has a story and there is something to be learned from every experience”~ Oprah

“Knowing who you that’s the foundation of everything great” ~ Jay-Z

“You can’t plan every step in life” ~ Condoleeza Rice

“When you learn…teach. At our best we are all teachers” Maya Angelou

“So many people are afraid of failure, but what I’ve learned is that failure is a great teacher, and if you’re open to it every mistake has a lesson to offer” ~ Oprah

“Hip hop is a force in the world” ~ Oprah

“Hip hop like all arts holds up a mirror to society, and shows us who we are, and how we are evolving, provides a voice for people who might not otherwise have their voices heard. Jay-Z is holding up a mirror for a lot of people, and what I realize is that it doesn’t matter whether I agree or you agree with every message, it reflects what many people are thinking or feeling, and that’s why we all need to pay attention to what he has to say.” ~ Oprah.

“This is what I think we can all learn from him, when the odds are against and you have the depth of clarity, to listen to your own instincts and follow what is truly for you, you may not become a Jay-Z but you will become the best that you can be” ~ Oprah

On Reinvention ~
“The models have to be redefined” ~ Jay-Z

Relationships fuel you ~
“I think any relationship inspires creativity, especially when it’s a great relationship, the people around you inspire you in certain ways, being it something they have done or said, so I think any good relationship inspires you, well sometimes bad relationships create great art, in the case of Marvin Gaye, Ushers Confessions album, and Justins Cry Me a River came out of a bad relationship. I guess relationships in general inspire you good or bad.” ~Jay-Z
